Although ipage hosting fully support wordpress blog, and it come as a standard blogging tool that you can setup at your hosting account via the installcentral tool from ipage vdeck control panel. We are still getting error on wordpress blog, this is caused by the akismet spam protection PLUGIN in wordpress. Usually we are activating the akismet plugin for our wordpress blog to filter out unwanted spam comments to our blog. However, in ipage hosting, its not supported as the connection to akismet server had been block!

“A network problem or firewall is blocking all connections from your web server to Akismet.com. Akismet cannot work correctly until this is fixed. Please contact your web host or firewall administrator and give them this information about Akismet and firewalls.

How to solve this akismet error problem? We had reach out ipage support team to get this resolved. The answer we received is that akismet is not supported as its trying to make connection to external server. Ipage are offering secure hosting and with site lock feature and enhanced virus scanning and protection, hence akismet with external server connection will caused problem here.
